Raiders hire Saunders as offensive coordinator

The Oakland Raiders have hired Al Saunders to be their next offensive coordinator, taking over for Hue Jackson.

Saunders spent the past couple of seasons with the Baltimore Ravens as an offensive consultant.

He is known as one of the brightest offensive minds in the game but had trouble finding another job after an ugly stint with the Washington Redskins.

He is best known for his success with the Kansas City Chiefs when they put up a bunch of points behind quarterback Trent Green, running back Priest Holmes and tight end Tony Gonzalez. ( Read More…)

Raiders to can Cable

The Oakland Raiders have declined the option on head coach Tom Cable, ending his time with the team.

Cable guided the Raiders to an 8-8 record, which is their first non-losing season in several years.

His firing is somewhat of a surprise given the fact that the players really seemed to buy into him.

He also seemed to significantly improve the Raiders, who suddenly look like a promising young team. ( Read More…)
